Nifty thrifty

Getting a grip.

We are busy making changes here (yet again). Just trying to get a grip on finances and organisation. Not having budgeted for a new car due to the old one breaking has meant our already overstretched finances are now at breaking point. So we are carefully going through our finances and trying to cull what we can (not that there is much, we don't even have normal tv so no tv licence or anything. Just dvd's to watch on duvet days) our luxury item is internet, but considering hubby is housebound quite often it is more of a necessity as we do all our shopping etc on-line. Doing it on-line also gives us the opportunity to buy in bulk at reduced prices, often through  http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/latest_products. We have also just moved over to a monthly shop as this should help us keep tighter controls on outgoing expenditure. We try to take advantage of special offers, but only on things we actually need (it is easy to be tempted to take advantage of special offers but they are not always the best deals and things are often still cheaper to make at home, plus it helps keep the children busy on wet afternoons). Mostly it is common sense but also I am influenced by the lovely Danielle at Blissful & Domestic .Menu plans are a must, which is something we have been doing for a while now and I try to make many of our cleaning products (mostly consisting of white vinegar & bicarb) partly due to cost but more importantly for my hubby's health as so many products contain toxins which leach into our environment and there for his system making him more sick. So watch this space for more instalments of the highs (& lows) of our ventures into domestic bliss.
